Retouch the World

I have been home for about 5 months now, and very busy at work.  I have had a passion for photography for about 4 years now and never really thought about using it for anything.  While on the Race, God gave me a dream to use my photography to raise money for those in need around the world.  I spent this year taking pictures of the people and places that have touched my heart.  Since I’ve been home, I have been working on getting the non-profit organization up and running.  …

Three Months-No Snakes!

While I wouldn’t say that not seeing any snakes sums up my African experience…it sure does make me feel a whole lot better!  We have successfully finished our ministry in Africa and are currently in Bangkok, Thailand getting ready for three months of ministry in Southeast Asia.
So what can I say to sum up my three-month journey in Africa?  How could I even begin to sum up my incredible experiences on this wonderful continent?  I think the one word I would use would be Powerful.  I saw God power displayed …

The Simple Life

This month, God has been working on my heart about what true Christian living looks like. What does it look like to actually be Jesus on the streets of a small town in Kenya, or the busy sidewalks of America? I posted earlier this month that God showed me how simple evangelism can be. I am beginning to think that simplicity is the mantle that Jesus is calling me to in all aspects of life. As I was painting a school building last week, I was …

Artemis

This week we got the chance to go to Ephesus, Turkey.  Yes, Ephesus, like the book of Ephesians, Ephesus.  Don’t worry; I had no idea it was in Turkey either.  Anyway, today I had two of the most powerful revelations that I have had on the trip thus far.  The first began when my team did one of the coolest things I have ever done.  We were sitting in the ruins of the main theater in Ephesus and decided to read the book of Ephesians out loud.  We were the …

Halloween….World Race Style

Occasionally on the Race, we as racers have to find ways to entertain ourselves during various holidays that everyone back at home is celebrating and we are not.   Halloween is such a time as this.  Our squad leaders, Brian, Stacy and Caitlin decided that a Super-Hero-themed party was in order.  Our entire squad met in Sofia, Bulgaria for an end of the month debrief, and that’s when chaos broke out.
The room was packed with Super Heores.
Capes were flowing.
Powers were flying.
Villains were shaking in their boots.
A fun time was had by …

Laying Down My Expectations

This month has been one of the most trying months for me so far.   It has been wonderful, yet very tough at the same time.  This month our teams were given the assignment of Asking The Lord (ATL) about which country we should go to next.  We were supposed to be in Egypt this month, however, we were not able to get our whole squad to the Middle East until December.  So Petra Asked the Lord and we felt him calling us to Croatia.  We went with Kingdom Unity and …

Full Circle

God totally has a way of bringing things full circle…and I love it!  We ended our month in Romania on a wonderful (yet very tearful) note.  I miss the Stoica family greatly.  They really made a big impact on my life.  I updated all of my fun pictures from Romania on my facebook, which you can see HERE.
I also uploaded my photography on my website, HERE.
Here’s a snapshot of a few of my favs.

From Romania we rode a bus to Brashov, Romania where we met up with 3 other World …

And Now For Your Viewing Pleasure…

Well we’ve been in Romania for about 2 weeks now and on the Race for officially one month and three days.  Time has flown by to say the least.  I haven’t really had a chance to upload many of my pictures and blogs from Romania, so I thought I would try to lump a bunch all together.  This month we are ministering in a little village called Villi Techi. Our ministry is to love of the people of this village and show the Christ in every way possible.  So far …

There Came a Time

This past Sunday I had the absolute honor of speaking with the wonderful people of Talking Rock First Baptist about missions.  This was my first time speaking before a congregation that I did not know.  I was a little nervous, to say the least.  While I was sharing my heart about missions, I felt the Lord speaking to me that I would not be a stranger to speaking before crowds of people.  This thought began to terrify me, all I could think was – I’m not ready, and I don’t …

Photo Contest

This is going to be a short post, I just wanted to tell everyone about the exciting news!  Seth Barnes, the visionary of the World Race decided to open up a photography contest for missions pictures.  His idea was to get a bunch of pictures from out on the field and collect them into a coffee table book of sorts to sell.  Ideally, this would be a great way to fund raise for missions.  To get photographers involved Seth and some other wonderful people put together a contest featuring missions …
